Heading south west tracking the cost of northern France we decided for a quick one night stopover in the picturesque town of Honfleur, with its old harbour and colourful houses, like something out of a painting by Monet.
Honfleur is a lovely port town in France rich in history dating back to the 11th century, when it was a strategic base for the Normans. It was a major trading hub for goods such as salt, wine and fish. It was also the birthplace of many famous explorers, such as Samuel de Champlain, who founded Quebec. Honfleur also inspired many artists, such as Claude Monet, who painted its picturesque harbour. Today, Honfleur is a popular tourist destination that attracts visitors with its charming architecture, seafood restaurants and art galleries.
We cycled into the old harbour town through the near empty surrounding villages. Once there we thought a beer and crepe at the Cidrerie would be the order of day, and it sure did hit the spot.
Your trip looks awesome so far with beautiful weather as well.
