Abergele Our First Campervan Adventure
After months of planning, designing, and fine-tuning, our campervan conversion was finally complete. Eager to put it to the test, we embarked on our first trip—destination: Abergele, a charming coastal town in North Wales with rich history, stunning landscapes, and a laid-back atmosphere.
Abergele: A Gateway to Coastal Wonders
Nestled between the rolling hills of North Wales and the Irish Sea, Abergele is steeped in character. From the historic Gwrych Castle—an imposing ruin with its own ghostly tales—to the scenic beaches perfect for strolling, it’s a place where time slows down, inviting travelers to enjoy its hidden treasures. But for us, Abergele was more than just a scenic stop—it marked the start of a new chapter in our campervan journeys.
Parking Up at Llandulas Beach
Llandulas Beach welcomed us with its expansive shoreline and fresh sea breeze. The rhythmic waves set the perfect backdrop for a peaceful morning as we settled into our spot. With the campervan parked and and doors swung open, we soaked in the sights—boats bobbing in the distance, locals walking their dogs, and the distant hum of the sea against the rocky groynes.
This was our first taste of van life freedom: having all the essentials within arm’s reach while enjoying nature’s grand display.
One of the most exciting features of our campervan conversion was the solar setup—a system designed to give us off-grid independence. And now, it was time to put it to the test.
For our first campervan-cooked meal, we kept it simple yet satisfying: omelette and crisp salad, paired with a steaming pot of tea, all powered by the solar system. Watching the setup work flawlessly was deeply rewarding—proof that all our hard work paid off.
Eating by the water, with the van providing the shade we needed, we savoured every bite. The gentle sea breeze added to the experience, reminding us why we chose this lifestyle in the first place.
Cycling on the North Coast Cycleway
Llandulas Beach is a fantastic spot to begin a ride. The shoreline stretches far into the distance, dotted with sea-washed rocks and backed by rolling green hills. As we pedaled away, the rhythmic sound of the waves followed us, setting the tone for a relaxing yet energizing journey.
The North Coast Cycleway provides a smooth and well-marked path, winding its way through charming coastal towns and open sea views. Passing through Colwyn Bay, the route embraces the coastline, offering occasional glimpses of stretches of quiet beach.
One of the highlights of this section is cycling alongside the promenade, where we watched seabirds swooping overhead and locals strolling by. The fresh sea air and the absence of heavy traffic made for a blissful ride, the kind that reminds you why coastal cycling is such a joy.

Are These Campervan Decals Really Us?
I picked out some campervan decals, maybe they looked perfect online and I was drawn to them. But now, standing here, I’m hesitating. Are they really right for me? Do they actually reflect the adventure, freedom, and personality I want my home-on-wheels to embody?
It’s easy to get caught up in trends or bold aesthetics that scream fun. But campervan decals should be more than just flashy—they should feel personal. Maybe those stripes looked sleek on someone else’s van but seem out of place on mine.
